Epigenetics, LncRNA and Tumorgenesis

Shan Gao, DPhil-Oxon in Medical Oncology. Professor in Cell and Cancer Biology from Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. My research focuses on the identification of driver mutation in cancer and the understanding of molecular mechanism of tumorgenesis; the identification of biomarker and the understanding of molecular mechanism for prediction to drug response. I have published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers including Science Advances, Cancer Research, Cell Reports etc. as a Corresponding Author. DNA methylation and lncRNAs have been shown to play the important roles in initiation, progression and metastasis of cancer, however, interaction between the DNA methylation and lncRNAs have not been extensively established. We mapped DNA methylation on promoter of lncRNAs and identified thousands of DNA-methylation regulated lncRNAs. I further investigated one lncRNA in role of renal carcinoma.
