Sepsis

Sepsis, as a severe complication in critically ill patients, can lead to septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), typically triggered by factors such as severe trauma, surgery, and infection. Despite the current availability of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, as well as monitoring measures, the incidence and mortality rates of sepsis remain persistently high, presenting a significant global challenge to the medical community. Globally, there are over 49 million sepsis cases annually, with approximately 11 million resulting in death and a mortality rate ranging between 15% and 25%.

Establishing a sepsis database is essential for improving public health, advancing medical research, enhancing the quality of healthcare, promoting early detection and intervention, and optimizing resource allocation in the face of this critical medical condition.

Data Source

The data is derived from large tertiary hospitals in western China, including West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Shangjin Hospital, and Tianfu Hospital, Collect hospitalized patients diagnosed with sepsis between 2020 and 2023. with data volumes of 8497, 690, and 357 respectively. The inclusion criteria for the data are patients whose discharge diagnoses include sepsis(2020~2023). Baseline information, laboratory test data, electronic medical record data for admission and discharge, among other data, were collected for these patients.
