A Knowledge Database for Personalized Medicine in Deciphering the Oral Microbiome-Disease Axis

The oral microbiota plays a crucial role in safeguarding against external pathogens and maintaining oral health homeostasis. However, when the delicate balance of the oral microflora is disrupted, it can lead to a dysbiosis in the oral environment, potentially triggering various diseases. To bridge the knowledge gap and facilitate the scientific and medical communities in understanding the intricate relationships between oral microbiome and diseases, we developed the oral microbiome knowledge base (ORMCKB). This comprehensive knowledge base integrates curated data on oral microbes, diseases, and interventions in humans, providing a user-friendly interface for data visualization and exploration. The primary objective of ORMCKB is to provide a platform for identifying key microbial players and their associations with oral diseases in personalized medicine. ORMCKB is poised to remain at the forefront of research on oral diseases and microbiome interactions, paving the way for future applications of artificial intelligence in both scientific research and clinical practice.
