About DRGs

A diagnosis-related group (DRG) is a case-mix complexity system implemented to categorize patients with similar clinical diagnoses in order to better control hospital costs and determine payor reimbursement rates. This system of classification was developed as a collaborative project by Robert B Fetter, PhD, of the Yale School of Management , and John D. Thompson , MPH. Medicare pays out a set amount based on a patient’s DRG as opposed to reimbursing the hospital for its total costs.

What's DRGKB?

The DRGKB is the first open DRG practice knowledgebase based on real world study, incorporating all empirical evidence on the impact of DRG introduction and standardizing and structuring the data for subsequent precision medicine and big data research.
