Neurodegeneration is the progressive loss of structure or function of neurons, including death of neurons.

Our knowledge base covers and integrates Risk factors for more than ten neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease (PD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Lewy body dementia (LBD), Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and frontotemporal lobe degeneration (FTLD). We have three types of risk factors, genetic factors (genes, mutations, family history, etc.), epidemiological factors (age, gender, race, disease, drugs, exposure to the environment, etc.), biochemical factors (biochemical indicators) and the combination factors, the NDDRF knowledge base also includes NDDs-related knowledge such as non-risk factors (Non-RF), providing a personalized search method, making it a powerful search tool in the field. It also provides great convenience for further analysis, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the researchers.

In epidemiology,risk factors are variables which are bound up with an increased risk of disease or infection,Protective factors are also risk factors,on the contrary, protective factors are variables which are associated with an decreased risk of disease or infection.
